Building Bridges Ministry

Nigeria

Nigeria is a diversified culture consisting of Muslim, Christian and traditional people groups.  It is the most populated country in Africa.

October 1, 1960 Nigeria gained it’s independence from the United Kingdom and now consist of 36 States.
The government is known for corruption and lack of help for the citizens as a whole.
Millions of Nigerians live in sub-standard housing and lack the daily food needed to sustain life.  There is still a serious lack of clean water available in most villages throughout the country.  Thousands die daily due to waterborne diseases.  BBM has drilled 52 boreholes in Nigeria and seeks to continue this work so that thousands may have the chance to drink clean water.

Other projects include:
Feeding over 200 lepers who live along the road to Port Harcourt, Bayelsa State, Nigeria.  These precious people live in paper and plastic “houses” on the side of the road.  They depend on passers by to throw a little money out the window of their vehicles as they speed by, never stopping.   These people are the most neglected in the world, as the majority think of them as taboo.  People have a great fear of contracting the disease.

The sad truth is that most of these people are Christians, Brothers and Sisters in Christ, but, “The Church” in Nigeria is not involved in ministering to them in any way.  BBM is working to change the hearts and minds of the Nigerian people to include the lepers in their communities.  Environment is the main cause of leprosy.  Until they have a clean environment to live in, this disease will continue to cripple and hinder their progress.  Jesus said “For I was hungry and you gave Me food: I was thirsty and you gave Me drink: I was a stranger and you took Me in: I was naked and you clothed Me:  I was sick and you visited Me: I was in prison and you came to Me.”
